Website updates

The website design is beginning to come together. You can now check our proposed route here.
The weather has meant that we have not been out very much recently. Jane and I went out for an absolutely freezing 20 mile ride today. In places the black ice meant we had to get off and walk on the verge. With more snow forecast in the next 48 hours perhaps it would be a good idea to buy a static trainer before the VAT goes up!

5 months to go!

Exactly 5 months from today till we start the MacJOGLE ride   It seems like a long time but I am sure it will be gone in no time.  Training has had to go on the back burner due to the cold and icy weather.  It's forecast to get warmer so hopefully we can get out for a ride over the holiday.

Happy Christmas to everyone and thanks for your support

Getting started

It all started 2 years ago when I did the Coast to Coast from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. I got the taste for longer rides and set my sights on the End to End.

However it soon became clear that it would be much more pleasant if not rushed in 12 days and so I started planning to do it as a retirement project in 2010.

Planning started "for real" in the summer of 2009 and my wife Jane decided she wanted to do it as well. My retirement date is fixed to April 1st 2010 when I go down to a very manageable 1 day per week. So the date was now fixed to start the JOGLE (John O'Groats to Lands End) on May 24th 2010 allowing 3 weeks to complete it (an average of around 50 miles per day)

The first night's accommodation in JOG is booked and the route is largely sorted. I will expand on this in a later blog. Please visit our website http://www.macjogle.co.uk/
